My photography is a mixture of things – it’s what I’ve noticed in the real world that has captured my attention. I just want to share those things. Most of it is candid since I hate asking people to pose. Most importantly, I hate drawing attention to myself while holding a camera. I like to be a spy, a ninja, and an invisible ghost. And if you see anyone looking at the camera in a photo, it’s because they caught me – my façade ruined.
I like to shoot landscapes, I love shooting subjects with my street photography style, and I love catching people in their natural habitats – humans being humans! My photography is inspired by all the art I consume, especially paintings and analog photography – I study the color and processes behind both of these mediums and apply that to my edits, especially since I only shoot digital (film is expensive for me, unfortunately!).
For each photography album/location, I usually give myself a challenge. Sometimes I use a vintage lens with a broken aperture wheel and can only stay on f/1.4, sometimes I only use my 24mm, sometimes I use only my zoom lens, or sometimes I just shoot with my phone.
Lots of the magic comes through when I come home, upload the photos on my drive, see the initial batches, and start editing. I edit on numerous softwares which 1) helps me learn more systems, but 2) keeps me inspired in trying new things. Sometimes I’ll edit a photo in one system and get stuck and frustrated because the photo isn’t turning out the way I want it to. Sometimes mixing up my toolbox and rearranging the tools does the trick.
The color starts to shine, the grain starts to twinkle, and the vignette starts to put everything into focus. I can’t forget to use my favorite and, in my opinion, the most underrated tool – the crop tool. And that’s what you get here – my photography.
